Views From the Field

Read what actual professionals in public history and public history related fields have to say about what they do. The Public History Resource Center invites interested readers to submit their own, anonymous, view from the field by following the link above. The form asks public history professionals to respond, in some manner, to the following questions:

  • How and why did you enter your current profession?
  • What training and degrees did you have prior to obtaining your current position?
  • What training and degrees have you since completed in order to enhance your performance?
  • What is your job title? Describe a typical day on the job.
  • What are some of the pros and cons of the job?
  • What is the average salary range (GS# if appropriate) for someone in your position?
  • Do you consider yourself to be a public historian? Why or why not?
  • How does your work fit into or complement the field of public history?
